Abstract:

Cymbopogon afronardus or Omuteete, as it is called locally, is a vigorously growing plant forming dense tussocks with a shallow root system. It spreads by seeds. It is unpalatable to cattle except at the very young stages and can form a physical barrier to the movement of the cattle denying the cattle food especially in the dry seasons.
