Abstract:
The second phase of the Vegetable Oil Development Project (VODP2) was approved by the
International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Executive Board in April 2010 and by
the Parliament of the Government of Uganda (GOU) on 29 September 2010. GOU and IFAD
signed the loan agreement in Rome on 21 October 2010.
The overall goal of the project is to contribute to sustainable poverty reduction in the project area.
The development objective is to increase the domestic production of vegetable oil and it’s by
products, thus raising rural incomes for smallholder producers and ensuring the supply of
affordable vegetable oil products to Ugandan consumers and neighboring regional markets
