Abstract:
Fruit tree crops represent one of the important opportunities in the agricultural sector of
Uganda. They have the important advantage of combining several very positive
characteristics.
• They produce food and contribute to food security and the nutritional quality of diets of
Ugandans, especially children, mothers and the general population.
• They can be a significant source of income for rural producers if production can meet the
requirements of the market, be it local or international
• They are perennial crops and can contribute to sustainable land use systems if their cultivation is combined with appropriate conservation measures.
