Abstract:
Bananalplantain is one of the most important food crops in
Uganda. About 75% of the farmers grow the crop on 1.3
million hec ctares.
Most of this production is for local consumption., In addition,
banana insures income to the farmer throughout the year,
provides soil surface cover, reduces soil erosion on steep slopes
and a principal source of mulch for maintaining and improving
