Abstract:
Following agreement at the December 1991 meeting that COLA was only applicable
to staff located away from the base country, the Cost of Living Allowance had been
integrated into the base salaries of all international staff. Staff located in Nigeria no longer
received the allowance. Using the U.N. index as the basis for calculation, staff located
outside Nigeria continued to receive COLA amounting to the difference between the
allowance for Nigeria and each relevant location.
