Abstract:

The influence of clay mineralogy, iron and aluminum
A
(hydr)oxides and organic matter on soil strength, stability
of crusts and soil erosion was investigated for four soils.
Barnes loam (Udic Haploboroll) and RenoVa silt loam (Typic
Hapludalf) were from Minnesota while Rabanyolo clay
(Mollic Kandiudalf) and Kachwekano clay (Typic Palehumult )
were from Uganda. Under laboratory conditions the soils were
Subjected to three consecutive simulated Storms with a 72
hours drying interval in between.
