Abstract:

The eleven days training of youth in apiculture production and value addition under “skilling youth for jobs in agribusiness” with an objective to impart knowledge and skills for entrepreneurship in apiculture among youths was held at Bulindi Zonal Agricultural Research and Development Institute (BuZARDI) from 15th to 25th March 2022. This was a joint of BuZARDI and Maendeleo ya Jamii (MYJ) funded by Enabel –the Belgium Development Agency. A total of 27 trainees from three districts (Buliisa,
Hoima and Kikuube) impacted by the petroleum industry participated in the training. The training course was interactive as the trainers ensured that knowledge was not only disseminated but accurately perceived and understood by the trainees. In order to ensure this, trainees participated in discussions and practical and were provided information material such as apiculture user guide and in each session trainees were allowed to provide feedback, queries and suggestions. In addition, these discussions and interactive sessions were used for pre assessment.
