Abstract:
& Animal Production Research Institute (SAARI) is responsible for project implementation, with
technical assistance (adaptive research, socio-economics, project management) provided by
two external specialists. The Project Goal is to Increase livelihood security of farming households in
northern and eastern Uganda through sustainable improvements in agricultural production and
increased income generation opportunities. The Project Purpose is to increase the use of povertyreducing
rural technologies among a wide spectrum of rural households.
To increase the capacity for client-oriented research and technology transfer (output 1), the
project organises training activities for SAARI staff and stakeholders on various aspects of
participatory and demand-driven agricultural research and development.
