Abstract:
Some of the earliest attempts to classify the
vegetation of East Africa were made by Stuhlmann (1S94, 1895)1
Busse (1901, 1901a),!and Engler (1908, 1910, 1910a). They
were based on Be Candolle’s (1820) system, of botanical
regions:typified'by the.occurring families.genera,and species
