Abstract:
The Eucalyptus clones were introduced by NaFORRI in Uganda from South Africa. They
offer a sustainable and environmentally sound way of meeting the growing demand of fuel-wood and other
wood products for the country. These clones contribute to the potential of improving the prosperity of
smallholder farmers, national economies, and sustaining productive ecosystem services in Uganda. Eucalyptus
hybrid clones grow in different agro-climate zones across the country (Fig. 1). The twelve Eucalyptus clones
introduced in 2002 were site matched according to the different agro-climatic zones basing on performance
and physical characteristics. Recommendations were made on which clone performs well in each zone.
