Abstract:

Avocado (Persea americana), a tree plant reported to originate from southcentral Mexico. Avocados are cultivated in many countries, world-wide, that have tropical and Mediterranean climates. By 2019, Mexico was the leading producer of avocados, supplying 32% of the world total. In Africa, Kenya and South Africa are major producers contributing significantly
to the global export market. Uganda has a lot of potential to supply the local and export market because of its country-wide climatic suitability for growing avocado. Avocado is widely grown in different parts of Uganda where there is high rainfall.
