Abstract:
Agricultural Research in Uganda started with the establishment of
the Botanic Gardens in Entebbe, in 1898 by the Colonial
Government. Research then and up to 1992 was organised along
major commodity groups (crops, livestock, forestry and fisheries)
under the four line ministries. The line ministries operated
independently of one another and hardly shared facilities. The
research agenda was not nationally prioritised and co-ordinated in
implementation.
