Abstract:
The activities of the National Agricultural Research System (NARS) in
Uganda are envisaged to operate within a unified national framework,
although detailed technical operations are to be supervised by apex bodies at
two levels. At national level, such responsibility lies with the National
Agricultural Research Organization Council (NAROC) and its secretariat,
while responsibility at the zonal level lies with the Zonal Agricultural
Research and Development Steering Committees (ZARD-SCs). At both levels,
the composition of the apex body includes corporate and individual
representations to ensure a reasonably wide participation, without unduly
making them cumbersome.
