Abstract:
In the first instance, I would like to welcome you, distinguish 2.c scientists from
the international agricultural research centers. May I, at this juncture, ladies and
gentlemen, extend a special welcome to the Director General of the International Rice
Research Institute to this region and to Zambia in particular. I also notice that we
have representatives from SACCAR, delegates from the Southern African
Development Coordination Conference (SADCC)-member countries and resource
persons from Eastern and Southern African region. Also to all of you, I say you are
most welcome to Zambia and please feel at home.
