Abstract:
Diquat is a nonselective contact bipyridylium herbicide and desiccant It is supplied (marketed)
mainly as an aqueous solution of the dibromide (1, 11 - ethylene -2, 21 - bipyridylium dibromide).
Diqiat dibromide is slightly soluble in alcohol, and practically insc1ibl in non-polar organic
solvents. It is non explosive and non-inflammable in aqueous formulations. Diquat is stable in
neutral or acid solutions but is hydrolysed by alkali. It is inacti by inert clay and by anionic
surfictants.
