Abstract:
The mission of the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is ,,to imprpve, the nutritional status and well-being of poor people in the humid and subhumid zones o sub-Saharan Africa by conducting research and related activities in collaboration with other institut_ons -.D increase sustainable agricultural production". The institute would like to measure its contnbution on tie basis of higher levels of food production, better income and nutritional status of poor people, and reduced drudgery for women. Achieving this for IITA is closely linked with adaptable technologies which should be available and widely used, with increased National Agricultural Research Systems (NARS) technology delivery and with demonstrably increased and sustainable -production.
