Abstract:
Makerere College was the highest tertiary institution teaching professional courses. At Makerere,
as it was called, both academic and extra-mural pursuits were emphasised. I was capta n of cricket,
athletics, member of the swimming team and was elected President (Chairman) of the Gares
Committee which consisted of captains of all the games played at Makerere, notably football
(soccer), tennis, cricket, athletics, swimming.
At the time the first pre-professional two years (equivalent to current A-level zourses), were dcie -
at Makerere, subsequently I chose to pursue a course leading to a diploma in Veter nary Science
of East Africa. The course consisted of two pre-clinical years and two clinic3I years. Our grcn
consisted of 5 students, two from Uganda Nsubuga and Corry, two from Tar ganyika Kombo21z.'
Maeda and one from Kenya Othieno. Othieno was dropped in his 4th year.
