Calliandra a highly preferred fodder shrub in Uganda because of its nutritional value, ability to coppice, and for being a multipurpose shrub (for firewood, bee for- , age, poles, stakes, etc.). Its leaves and twigs are fed to dairy animals as protein supplements to increase milk production and quality. Calliandra has 22-28% crude protein, 35-40% digestible dry matter, and a potential biomass yield of 6-17 t ha 1 yri, DM basis
