Abstract:

A study conducted, in Kumi, -Katakwi and Lira districts in ;002 identified Prosopis africana as an important source of poles and fuel. Its charcoal is especially used by blacksmiths. The tree also is also highly medicinal and its fruits are fed on by livestock. In view of its multiplicity of uses, Prosopis africana was identified as one of the most important indigenous tree species with potential for agroforestry in the Teso and Lango farming sy:§tems.
