Abstract:
Large-scale production and distribution of planting stock in forestry has mainly
focused on tree seed. However, raising planting stock by vegetative propagation,
especially by stem cuttings is a viable and very important alternative. Moreover
vegetative propagation conferrers many vital advantages including the
multiplication of desired plants within a short and at prescribed periods. Plant
hormones or auxins have been used at various concentrations to enhance rooting
of cuttings of many plant species (Wright, 1975; Wright, 1976; Brown & Sommer,
1985; Esegu, 1992).
