Abstract:
Aquaculture is considered to be the fastest growing animal food industry worldwide and has been reported to account for more than 30% of the total fish consumed globally and also 10% of the fish produced in Uganda. This is attributed to the ever increasing demand of safe animal proteins in response to exponentially increasing global human population. Fish farming has a great contribution as a complement to other agricultural activities to rural house hold improvement as it can: provide an additional source of high quality food/protein and income thus contributing to food security as well as playing a vital role towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals no. 1& 2.
