Abstract:
In the framework of the FAO/World Bank Agricultural Statistics Initiative for Africa assistance was provided during 1999-2000 to the Uganda Ministr! of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries to: a) review the state of agricultural statistics in the country, b) carry out a data needs assessment for agricultural development, c) organizing a Data User - Producer Workshop on agricultural statistics, d) design an integrated framework for the development cif agricultural statistics in the country. This is the first report presenting main findings and recommendations of a mission undertaken for the purpose of reviewing the status of agricultural statistics in the country and undertaking an agricultural data needs assessment. Sucoessive reports will cover the remaining two activities.
