Abstract:
Mukono Zonal Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MUZARDI) is
one of the 16 Public Agricultural Research Institutes under National Agricultural
Research Organization (NARO). The Institute is mandated to carry out adaptive
agricultural research and technology dissemination in the Lake Victoria Crescent
Agro-ecological Zone (LVCAZ), comprising of 21 districts in central Uganda.
NARO and Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industries and Fisheries (MAAIF)
jointly implemented the World Bank funded project titled, "Agricultural Technology
and Agribusiness Advisory Services (ATAAS)"project which facilitated better
research-extension-farmer linkages and collaboration, with other stakeholders.
The ATAAS Component 2 focused on up-scaling of improved technologies mainly
developed by NARO. The intention was to get the farmers to appreciate the benefits
of using these technologies.
