Abstract:

Nakati is a popular vegetable among the leafy green
vegetable crops grown in Uganda on both small and large
scale. Most farmers grow it as a major source of income as
well as a source of vitamins and minerals.
By nature Nakati is open pollinated and all flowers are
functionally bi-sexual and can set fruits.
One plant can produce 30 fruits and each fruit has approx
35 seeds. 1,000 seeds weigh 2-4g. This means a farmer
can harvest upto 250kgs of seeds per acre.
High humidity during growth can be a problem leading to
disease increase and reduction in potential yield
